A war had raged for three years. both sides suffered casualties. Falcons fought on both sides, though the winning side belonged to that of the Elendron kingdom of Falcons and its allies. Sad days, however, followed as the soldiers returned to Elendron and the news of those lost reached the ears of those of the families. Even the royal family found that it had lost as the young ward of the Akritian family had seemed to disappear. Some thought him dead and others thought him simply missing. However, as he had not been seen in the year before the wars end, word was finally sent to the family of his death, the ring with the families crest arriving with the letter, along with his necklace, given to him by the princess who had long been his closest companion, arriving in a letter to Elendron, to none other then Adara Corrington with news of the young mans death. Cries of anguish came from both kingdoms upon news of the General of Elendron' death, the soldiers dropping to their knees at news of their commanders departure from the world. A few days on found a lone stranger walking towards the town from the battle field. His dark black hair bristled in the wind as blood dripped from fingers and other various injuries that littered his form. His lower face was covered by a wrap that concealed his identity, though it would have mattered little. The man knew not who he was or where he was from. All he knew was that he had woken on the battle field with no memory and nothing to identify him. His shirt and other clothing was tattered and torn in areas revealing the extent of his injuries. Shadows clung to him like a second skin and he knew he had been a fighter at some point. As he neared town, he glanced around, not sure where he was. The village was in mourning but they still moved on trying to make the best of things. the man blinked a few times as he entered the town, several stopping to stare at him as he moved. It did not take long for word to reach the castle of the strangers appearance. A short time later found the man surrounded by soldiers as one of the young officers had taken offense when the man would not respond to him. As a result, the soldier had grabbed at the man which had resulted in the soldier being struck. The black haired man now stood in the center of a group of soldiers, his silver eyes visible under the mess of black hair. He glanced towards each soldier, his boy language calm and his mind holding nothing but that of a brick wall, no thoughts readable at all. As the young man stood there, watching each of the gaurds, one of them noticed the blades on his back. "That's the general blade." The one said to their leader. "What is this man doing with them?" He raised a brow. The man who held the blades on his back heard the whispers. He finally spoke. "You know the one who these blades belong to?" He asked. "Who is he? Take me to him." As the man was speaking, the youngest of the guard reached up to take the blades, still young enough not to realize that what he was doing was going to get him or someone hurt. The man could tell someone was getting ready to touch him and all to soon he had the young guard pinned against the wall, his eyes blazing both in fear and anger. The man clearly showing that he was like a caged animal that was ready to spring at the first sign of danger. However, a few moments later he was laying unconscious on the ground. When he came to he was in the cells below the castle, his mask still in place, mainly because the way it had been placed made it almost impossible to remove, it having been done so by the ones who had captured the man from the start. As he sat up he glanced around before stretching his arms slightly, his whole body stiff and sore. He sat with his arm resting across his leg, blood dripping from his injuries as he stared towards the entrance to the cells. "You will find nothing in my thoughts, mind reader."

A woman sat in the shadows at the entrance of his cell. From her silhouette he'd be able to tell she was a petite woman, her hair cut short, shorter than his, though roughly. As she sat there her presence cause the shadows to stir, like they were draw to her in the same way they were drawn to him. And then, suddenly, she was gone.
Light shone in through the bars of the cell as footsteps approached. A chair was placed before the cell by the guard who put the torch in the holder to light the cells and the area around. The light seemed to get bright even then as a figure stepped into place. Despite the dark clothes that clearly indicated mourning something about this man seemed to create light. His hair was white as a fresh snowfalls. Though he was clearly young his face seemed worn from grief and strife. As the guards moved it was clear that this man was important, and even his black clothing were wealthy and well-kept. He held his hand out and a guard handed him the sword that the man in the cell had been carrying on him The white haired man lifted his eyes to the man in the cell and placed his hand over the sword "Where did you get this?" he asked, his voice was calm but still there were clear signs that this mattered to him

The man looked towards the well kept man. "I do not know." He stated honestly. "When I came to on the battle field...they were with me." He stated. "I do not know who they belong to but it is clear he is of some importance here." He raised his brow slightly as the image of a woman flashed briefly through his mind. He raised a hand and held it to his head before shaking his head slightly as he sealed his thoughts once more, something that had become second nature for him. He looked back towards the figure that sat before him. "And before you ask, no I do not have a name. At least not one I can remember. And your mind reader will do no good gaining that information either. I do have the ability to shield my thoughts, something that stirred during my captivity for the past year and a half." He stated. The man shifted slightly, the pain that simple movement caused evident in his eyes as he looked towards the man.

The white haired man listened quietly until he mentioned the mind reader and he got to his feet "Mind reader?" he demanded stepping forwards "She was here? You saw her?" he grabbed the bar his voice raising to almost a yell. Then he seemed to realize what he was doing and stepped back, taking a moment to compose himself and sat back down "This sword belonged to this Kingdom's general. He grew up under my parents care. He is....was... my brother in all the ways that matter" he looked at the man steadily for a second "I am Prince Torrent, Heir to Akrita and currently acting as Regent here in Elendron" he leaned forward in the chair, handing the sword back to the guard "Remove your mask" he requested simply, looking at the prisoner

"The men who held me captive called me Ryder." He stated as he reached up towards the mask. Symbols flashed across the article of cloth as he touched the item. He slowly ran his fingers along the edge to the back and carefully ran his fingers in a pattern over it before the article slowly lowered to reveal the face of someone that all would know quite well even without knowing a name. The man looked towards Torrent as he cloth dropped to the floor of the cell. "How do you know the woman that was here earlier? It is clear you are protective. Sister? Wife?" He asked, not seeming to pay attention to the collective gasp that came from a few of the guards there when they saw none other then the face of Dyten Ryder.

Torrent's jaw dropped seeing his face and he could do nothing but stare "Ryder is your last name" he said looking at him, his voice barely audible "Dyten Ryder..." he moved to unlock the cell "You...don't remember me?" he asked, barely able to contain his emotions at the moment, though he was in control enough to know this man did not know who any of them were. He stepped into the cell, the guards not making any move to stop him since they themselves were in a state of shock.

Dyten stood, blood still dripping from his injuries and shook his head no. "The only thing I remember is a constant state of pain, and then something causing me to keep the mind reader from reading my thoughts which caused more pain." He stated. "Anything before that I know nothing about." He blinked a few times. "You say that the man you call a brother is me?" He asked, moving slightly to keep himself from being put into a corner, though there was little option seeing as he was in a cell. It was clear he still felt like a caged animal and that the year and a half of torture had ingrained that deeply.

Torrent noticed his caution and managed to contain himself enough to step back so he didn;t feel so cornered. He nodded looking at Dyten "You have his face and his swords. Perhaps not his memories at the moment, but you are my brother, yes" he smiled slightly "Dyten Ryder, the best damn General this kingdom has ever had" he paused "Actually i don't know that for sure. that;s just be being bias" he leaned against the bars so that he was giving Dyten space "The woman" he said "the mind reader. She's my sister... and she's your betrothed. She disappeared right after we were informed of your...death"

Dyten nodded once as he watched the guards that were there then looked back at Torrent. "I can honestly say I meant no harm on my arrival here." He stated. "Your guards surrounded me. The one I pinned down came at me from behind. I did not know his intentions and considering what I have been through, I do not trust easily when someone comes at me, especially from behind. I simply sought information and a place to rest to heal." He stated, the blood coating his clothes starting to become a bit more noticeable. "My reaction was one of defense."
One of the guard present looked towards Torrent. "He refers to young Sven. He did reach to take the swords from him. He didn't harm him just pinned him but we weren't to sure, your highness. That was why the call was made to bring him here."

Torrent nodded "You did the right thing" he said, looking at the guards. He looked back at Dyten "As did you. You defended yourself but you also showed restraint." he looked at the guards "Come. You do not belong down here. This place is your, Dyten's, home." he said looking at him "I hope you will choose to stay with us, and let us try and remind you of who you are. Adara would probably help a lot more than i can but she's...i don't know. I'm not sure how to find her. She took your, Dyten's, death very hard" he smiled a little and stepped out of the cell, motioning for the guards to leave hoping Dyten would trust him. He was trying not to put to much pressure on him, which was why he was trying to make a point of saying things were Dyten's rather than just his so that he didn;t feel like they were trying to make him into something he didn;t remember being

The guards hesitated but ended up leaving. However, it didn't take long for word to start spreading among the soldiers about how the prisoner had looked like Dyten and the discussion that had happened in the cells.
Dyten was hesitant but stepped out of the cell and glanced towards him. "I cannot say for sure." He followed Torrent out of the dungeon, shielding his eyes against the light as he listened to several things crash and several gasps come from servants that stumbled, bumped into each other or just lost their grip in shock of who they were seeing come out with Torrent.
Abut that time a young girl of about sixteen years old came down the steps. "Papa..." Came the girls cheerful voice. "Papa...momma's looking for you. You have a letter from one of the noble men on the boarder. She said it needs your attention." She blinked a few times. "Uncle Dy?"
The nickname triggered something and Dyten stumbled back holding a hand to his head briefly, looking almost as though he was going to be sick. He shook his head slightly before looking towards the girl. "Sa....Is your name...Sandra?" He asked.
The girl nodded once and looked towards Torrent with a tilt of her head and confusion on her face.

Torrent was about to respond to Sandra when he noticed Dyten struggling and turned to him concern. When he spoke her name though he could not help but smile, feeling a wave of hope "Yes. This is mt daughter. Sandra" he confirmed, trying to contain her excitement. He looked over at Sandra and smiled apologetically knowing she was confused "This is Dyten, sweetheart, but he doesn't remember who he is right now" he said, touching her shoulder gently "He didn;t know his name until i told him. Right now he's really confused and needs out help" he hesitated for a second, knowing he should probably see to that matter and looked at Dyten "If you;re alright with it, Sandra can show you to your room. You are not a prisoner here though. You can move around if you want, though it might be easier for you if someone was with you"

Dyten nodded once. "That will be fine." He stated as he glanced towards Sandra.
Sandra motioned for him to follow before leading him up towards his room next to Adara's. She stopped outside his door and glanced towards the door to her aunt's room. "I hope she comes back now that you are here." Sandra glanced towards Dyten. "I am sorry. This is your room. If you need anything just tug the rope inside and it will ring a bell for a servant." She smiled softly towards him and made sure he was okay before heading off.
Dyten entered the room and glanced around. "Darkness." He shook his head and moved over to open the curtain and let in more light. He glanced out the window before turning as he heard foot steps. He moved to hide in the shadows as a young woman knocked before entering.
"No need to hide." The woman said. She was a pail creature with long flowing blond locks and a gentle smile on her face. "I'm Felicia." She said, introducing herself. "I believe you met my twin brother earlier, Torrent." She stated. "He told me you were injured so I offered to bring up some bandages and ointments that Dyten always had ready." She told him.
Dyten moved from the shadows at that point where Felicia could fully see him.
Felicia bit back and cry of relief when she saw his face, but it was clear to see the relief of seeing him alive in her face. "I can help if you need me to." She told him. "I am used to bandaging my twin when he would train and bandaging Dyten up when he lived in Akrita."
"Your family is strange." Dyten said, but moved over so she could bandage in the injuries after she had him remove his shirt.
Felicia set about cleaning and applying the ointment to the injuries and bandaging them. "How so?" She asked.
"You are nobility but you do not act like it." Dyten stated as she worked.
"Ahh...yes. We are accused of that often." She said with a soft laugh. "Our mother and father were determined that we learn to be a part of the people. In truth, the nobility is the biggest servant of all. We are there to serve our people. We may have the luxuries but ultimately, if it were not for their willingness to follow and trust us, we would not have that, so we owe much to the people and we do our best to treat them as equal as we can. We do not see nobility as a right, but a privilege."
Dyten sat silently as he listened to her speak. "Tell me about this Adara that was spoken about. The mind reader."
"Adara...my younger sister." Felicia smiled. She told him a few stories as she worked, talking about how close him and her had always been, but didn't get into major details, figuring that would be best left for Adara when she chose to return. "All done." Felicia said with a soft smile.
"Thank you." Dyten said, looking towards her.
"You are most welcome." Felicia smiled. "If you need anything I will be around. I am here as an aid to my brother so I handle most of the visitors as well." She bowed her head slightly before she left the room, leaving him to rest.

Torrent went down and hugged his wife before she had a chance to tell him about the situation at hand, telling her about Dyten being back and his memory loss "I just...I'm trying but to overwhelm him But in so excited he's alive. At the same time though i know it's him But not him.his thoughts, his memories are distant. " he sighed then he smiled " but he did remember Sandra " he add sounding hopeful as he held his hand out for the report Sandra had come to get him about

Treva listened to everything Torrent had to say. "Well there was almost two years where no one knew where he was so there is no telling what happened to him during that time." She said softly as she handed him the report. "Trouble is brewing on the boarder. Remnants of the war still playing out." She said softly. "And maybe something Sandra said triggered it. Let us hope Adara returns soon though. I know she would be able to help him. Her ability to read minds would help her in figuring out how to help him."
"Actually, I don't know that it would help." Sandra stated as she came in with a few other reports. "All I get from him is black nothingness." She moved over to Torrent. "This came from the spies." She stated.
