A cry broke the silence of the courtyard. It was not an unfamiliar sound, the castle having seen the birth of many children in it's time, most recently the birth of the current queen's third child, yet this was strange, for the it came not from within the castle but from the gates. The head servant shuffled across the courtyard in her night dress, cracking the door open ever so slightly that she might see what the source was. As she scooped up the small bundle of cloth the queen stepped out into the courtyard and went over, looking down at the small child, no older than a couple days. She smiled at the child, taking him into her arms. From that day on the king and queen raised the child alongside their own children, though they never hid the truth of his origins from him ~20 years later~ Princess Adara Corrington delivered a final quick kick to her opponent, knocking him to the ground. Flicking her hair back over her shoulder she looked down at the group of highwaymen that lay moaning on the dirt road and shook her head "weak mindless thugs" she said, picking her bag off the ground and looking at her compainion, the swords on her back untouched "maybe you should try to buff up more, make how strong you are a little more physically obvious" she grinned "it would make travel easier if weren't both so deceptively strong that idiots oegged us for easy targets"

Dyten stayed silent as he picked his sword up from where he had stuck it into the ground. After slipping it into it's sheath on his back he looked towards Adara. "Deception makes them under estimate." he stated calmly, his icey blue eyes looking away just as quickly. He gathered up this things and tossed the bag over his back as he took a deep breath, letting it out slowly.
Dyten was always quite, usually speaking only to Adara. He rarely spoke to anyone else, even after 20 years of living with the Corrington family. It was not that he didn't care for them, but the lifestyle made him uncomfortable, especially after he learned of who his real family was. He chose to spend his time with Adara or training with the soldiers during his free time. But one thing he refused, was to let anyone call him prince Dyten, as he would remind them he wasn't royalty.

Adara shrugged nonchalontly "well I guess we did volunteer to walk the road between Akrita and Elenron simply for the sake of making sure the road was safe so I can't really complain. But it is a slow trip" she said cheerfully "hey Dy" she said looking down the road. They could see in the distance the far away shine indicating the forest's end "I'll race you to the end." She and Dyten had grown very close, close enough that she considered him like a brother, as he had always been her best friend. She knew he loved the family he had with them, but still felt like an outsider at times. "No wings, no powers, just the strength of our legs." She said hopping on the balls of her feet, full of energy

"Alright." Dyten said with a slight nod. He glanced towards her then back at the edge of the forest. "No complaints if I win." He teased slightly with a quick smile. It disappeared just as quickly as it showed up, however.
Dyten secured his two swords and his bag, not feeling like picking up a mess when racing.

Adara laughed "like that'll ever happen" she shot back with a grin, slinging her bag over her back "ready?" She asked. Then smiled "GO!" she yelled before taking off on foot. Now being flyers they rarely ever actually did any running, especially distance running, though they both were very fit and athletic from extensive training. Still running was something they weren't used to

Dyten glanced towards her before he took off running. He raced after her, dodging through a few trees that were in the way. He kept his attention focused on making it to the end, though he would confess he preferred to fly.

At one part Adara tripped on a branch but her reflexes were strong and she moved her hands to the ground, turning it into a flip before continueing running. When they reached the end adara let herself fall to the grassing, out of breath but laughing "Who won?" She asked having not bothered to look to see who got there first

Dyten leaned against a tree, catching his breath. He looked towards her before shaking his head slightly. "A tie." He said before coughing slightly. "We should get back home. It is getting late." He stated, glancing out towards the sky, noticing how late it was getting.

"We should run more often" she said pushing herself up "if we ever got in a situation where we couldn't use our wings I think after a while even a human could catch up and beat us." She got to her feet "we're not done the job yet, Dy. Your not afraud of the dark, are you?" She teased. Then she smiled "you're right though.we probably should start thinking of heading back" she looked back and forth "we're just about on the boarder, so Elendron of Akrita?" She asked, wanting to know where he'd rather go for the night

Dyten shrugged one shoulder. "Which ever is fine for me." He told her. Dyten glanced towards the sky again then back at her. He stayed silent about the running but knew it would be better if they did. He simply chose not to say anything more on the subject.

Adara walked over and nudged him with her shoulder "come on. I always make the decisions. It's your turn" she teased. She knew he was agreed with her on the running, she didn't have to be a mind reader to tell that, but since she was it made thing extra clear

Dyten shook his head. "It really doesn't matter." He was rarely comfortable in either place. Elendron made him think of his real parents and Akrita was the place he had been left. They only good thing about either place was he rarely went there without Adara. He glanced towards her, then down at the ground. "Akrita." He finally said after a moment.

Adara frowned at his thoughts and touched his arm "Dy...." she said softly, worry in her voice. It bothered her that he didn't seem to feel like he belonged either place. SHe was quiet for a bit "hey, why don't we just camp out " she suggested "it's been a while since he hunkered down in a cave and hunted and cooked out own food"

"We said we would be back by tonight." Dyten glanced towards her. "They will worry." He stated softly, knowing she was trying to do it to comfort him. He didn't want to ruin her fun though, never one to tell her no unless it was absolutely necessary.

"About you and me?" She asked with a grin "let them worry. They should know us well enough to know that I probably made an improtu decision and you almost never argue with my suggestions unless I'm blantantly putting myself in harms way"
