The man looked at the sky as he heard thunder rolling in with the black clouds on the horizon. He grumbled, muttering to himself.
This was taking too long.
He turned back to his task and continued digging. Sweat rolled down his brow and his muscles strained against the hard ground and he grunted in effort as he worked. By the time he was done it had already begun to rain, washing the blood and dirt from his hands and arms. He looked at the sky and cursed before climbing out of the hole. He looked down at the girl laying on the ground, blood congealing making her shirt stick to her chest. He looked at her face, her eyes glazed over, lifeless. With a swift movement he kicked her into the grave he had dug. Then he set to work filling it in.
The man walked down the street head down. Glancing at the woman standing on the streets outside the taverns, plying their trade. His eyes landed on a dark haired girl separate from the rest . She walked along the street as if she has decided she was done for the night. Petite and pretty she had many similar features to the girl he had buried the previous day. He approached her, swiftly grabbing her and dragging her off the street and pinning her against the wall, covering her mouth with his hand. He looked in her eyes, excited at the thought of the fear that was always in their eyes, especially when they saw the short sword in his hand. He faltered though. This girl stared at him, her eyes fearless. Suddenly he found himself thrown against the wall her hand on his throat. It happened so fast that he didn't even know how it happened.
"Got you excited didn;t it? Seeing their fear" she said holding him. Grabbing the front of his shirt she slammed his head into the wall, and everything went dark
Adara Corrington walked to the door of her room in the local Inn. She glanced at the door of the room next to her.
She had heard the rumors of people disappearing through town when they arrived, her and her twin brother, and it had caught her attentions.
She and her brother had left they home four months previous, her brother had just deep dumped by the first outsider he had dared to get close to him, which damaged him in ways the rest of the family didn't properly understand. Adara herself was special. Aside from the bond they had as twins she had discovered years earlier that she was psychic. More specifically a Mind reader. So she has suggested a road trip to him, knowing of she hadn;t he would've taken off, alone. They traveled around, making their ways as hired swords. People often her skeptical of hiring her. A petite girl didn;t seem imposing at all, yet her skill with a sword surpassed that of most men, especially for her age.
When they entered the village people watched them silently, but to her head they were speaking volumes. Which was why she had known about the missing prostitutes. She had kept this from her brother since all the faces she saw in the minds of the missing were oddly similar to her. She knew using herself as bait was probably the best idea.
Her twin, though, was protective and after this recent emotional stress and loss, she saw him becoming more so.
Adara opened the door to her room slipping in as silently as possible so she wouldn't alert her brother to the fact that she has left in the first place.
