The city was bustling, though the streets were all but empty. It was a hot day, even for the warm climate usually experienced in Lumia. There was no wind, not even a slight breeze. The sky was clear and the sun shone bright, scorching everything beneath it
The young woman ducked into the shop and pulled back the scarf she had been using to shelter her face from the sun, revealing her soft features and raven hair. Looking at the shopkeeper she raised her hand, seeing him move to deal "There's no need for that" she said softly.
Two months had passed since her mother's coronation and Princess Nayjo was still not used to all that had changed. She had grown up a lady in the neighboring kingdom. Even then it had only been in title, since her family really had no lands that they managed or lorded over. Now here she stood in a new Kingdom, the crowned princess
The glanced at a few other people in the shop who all moved to bow as well and shifted, slightly uncomfortable. She moved over to the table to look at things, very conscious that there were eye on her
Nayjo had gone into town a few times before, so she was not unused to the staring, but this day was the first time she had gone to town without her parents, or boyfriend, or her friend who had come to Lumia for her uncle, the former king's, funeral.
She quickly selected her items and moved to pay. She shook her head when the shopkeeper told her just to take the items, handing him the money despite his protest. She pulled the scarf back over her head and stepped out into the street.
Since moving to Lumia she had started to understand the different clothing styles they had. The style were exotic to her in Elendron where she grew up. Though their alliance with Lumia had seen the style adopted into it it was still something she had not quite understood. But now, walking under the hot sun she understood the choice of not covering her mid-drift. She was still unused to that so she usually used one of the other styles now that was more covering but still far more comfortable in the heat than the clothing from Elendron was. She wore a flowing embroidered tunic over a pair of billowly flowing pants. It someone gave the look of a tunic and skirt, but the separated legs were more comfortable, keeping the occasional wind gusts that often happened from lifting her skirt and keeping her thighs from sticking together and getting sweaty from the heat.
She turned down an alley in a slightly more impoverished area or town and gave the scarves she had just purchased to some of the young girls, so they too could protect their faces from the burning heat, slipping a few coins and some bread to the mothers before moving back towards the castle, muttering to herself trying to remember her way back through the twisting streets. Coming to a dead end she paused and looked around, trying to figure out where she had gotten turned around

Leon moved through town glancing about. He was uncomfortable in the kingdom, but had come for Nayjo's sake. He found it odd to be in the kingdom that had been the result of his family living as outcasts. However, though there was still some prejudice against the Black suns, an alliance had been formed which had resulted in his living in Lumia. It was a place he never thought to be, having only seen pictures from time to time. Being here now, however, he understood ore about why his parents missed it so much. He sighed softly as he rubbed his neck. Leon had been staying at the castle at Sandra's request, giving him time to decide what he wanted to do.
However, he knew that in time he would have to find a profession and make a living. He shook his head and ran a hand back through his locks before sighing softly once more. Though many of the men wore shirts that showed off their arms, Leon kept his shoulder's covered due to the black sun mark he had placed there during his time back with the Black suns. It held his parents initials in the center, his remembrance to them. He kept it hidden, at least until he grew a bit more comfortable in Lumia.
Sandra sat in a meeting at that time, her head hung slightly. She rubbed her neck as she listened to the noble drone on and on about things that really were of little importance, but he felt the need to whine and complain about. Her thoughts drifted to how her uncle had dealt with this mess daily.

Seeing Leon finally Nayjo ran to catch up with him. She moved over and took his arm gently as she came up beside him, sighing in relief and leaning her head on his shoulder. She glanced up at his face and smiled sheepishly at her boyfriend "I got lost" she said softly, explaining why she was so happy to have spotted him in town. She had not told him she was going into town, since she had decided this time she'd go alone.
When the Lord finally finished and left the throne room Jade, Sandra's husband and a human, looked over at the guard "That's all for today" he said looking at him. Years spent as adviser to the queen of Elendron made him comfortable with making decisions and giving order "We'll take no more audiences until tomorrow" he said, wanting both to give Sandra a break plus knowing that they would need to spend some time later reviewing more details about the kingdom since they were still familiarizing themselves with the noble families as well as the customs

Leon was a bit surprised when Nayjo grabbed onto his arm. When he looked towards her though, he smiled. "Hey. I didn't know you had come into town." He said, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "I would have come with you if you wanted me to." He held his hand up to shield his eyes. "I don't think I will ever get used to how hot it is today." He laughed. "It's even hotter then usual."
"Thank you." Sandra said once the throne room had cleared. She stood up and stretched slightly before moving over to Jade. "Now I know how my father, grandfather, and Adara feel." She sighed softly. "I don't know how my uncle dealt with it. They do nothing but whine because they can't have their way." She rubbed her neck before glancing around the throne room then back towards her husband. "Nayjo go into town? I caught her scent leaving."

Nayjo nodded, loosening her grip on his arm since being so close was making her feel even hotter "I feel like I'm going to melt" she agreed softly "I actually really could use some water right now" she said, her mouth feeling quite dry "What did you come out to town for?" she asked, though she felt like she knew why, since the castle was not somewhere he was fully comfortable yet
Jade laughed lightly "Don't forget me. I may not have been a ruler until now but for the last 20 years i did all this stuff when Adara needed a break." he smiled "That's pretty much how Nobility works, especially with a change in ruler. They try and see if things the previous ruler denied them will be granted by the new ruler" he said softly. He nodded to her question "I believe so. I think she'll come back fairly soon though. I stepped outside earlier for some air and came right back in. The sun is so hot we could probably cook our food by leaving it on the balcony"

"Not much to do at the castle, and your mother was about ready to snap the head off of anyone that wasn't your father." Leon said with a soft laugh. "Diplomacy is not her strong point, but she seems to be handling it for the most part."
Sandra nodded. "Thankfully this is not the usual around here." She said, referring to the heat. "And they will have to think again. There are very few things I am tempted to change from my uncles rule." She stated, having gone over some of the laws put in place by her uncle upon her arrival. "Though I swear the council is about to get punched the next time one of them tells me what Nayjo should and shouldn't be doing." She growled slightly.

"She'll get used to it. And Father is there to support her" she said softly. She looked around and sighed "The city makes me a little sad though" she said softly "i've talked to a few people and now really anyone knows much about the history here or anything else. I don't think most of them have had the chance to look at any books for knowledge. They don;t feel comfortable going to the castle library" she said sadly "It's a little depressing" she was honestly quite homesick for Elendron and all her friends that she had grown up with
Jade smiled and wrapped an arm around her "They just aren't used to having an heir around. Your Uncle never had a chance to address any of it with the council because it wasn;t even an issue. and when he finally did name his heir she lived in a neighbouring kingdom"

Sandra nodded. "Though no one expected the heir would be needed this soon either." She muttered. Sandra glanced over as one of the spies came in. "Your majesties....two groups are approaching. One looks to be the late king's son and the other your mother and siblings."
"Yes....bring them here and send someone to collect Nayjo and Leon. Let her know her grandparents are here." She told the spy.
He bowed and moved off to send off someone to collect Leon and Nayjo.
Leon nodded once. "It's odd here." He said softly. "As much as they hate to admit it....it reminds me a lot of the black suns. Each person has their part to play and they don't really go outside of that."

"I just....i wish the library wasn;t in the castle." Nayjo sighed "I wish there was a library outside the castle so people didn;t feel too intimidated to go and read. I can kind of understand why they don't feel like they can walk into the castle to read a book" she shook her head "Let's head back, shall we? Or did you have something to do?" "Princess Nayjo" a servant ran up. He was panting from running out in the hot sun "Your mother has sent for you. King Torrent and Queen Treva approach"

Leon shook his head. "Was just tired of being in the castle." He told her. When the servant came up he glanced towards her. "We should get back then." He suggested. "I am sure your grandparents will want to see you." He muttered, not liking the idea of being cooped up in the castle once more. "As for the library...bring the idea up to your mother. She may like it. I know your father would."

Nayjo blinked at Leon "You think....it would actually be possible?" she asked, surprised that he thought she should tell her mother. She walked back still holding his arm "There's a lot we'd need though. copies of the books, a building, someone to watch over the building when it's open so we don't lose the books...." she looked up seeing her family as she grew closer and smiled

"I could do it." He told her. "I need something to do, and in some ways it would give me a chance to learn a bit more about this place and learn about things like I want to." He told her, something he had mentioned to her back when they first started dating. When they arrived back at the castle it was about the same time that Treva and the others were arriving. Treva was dressed in traditional Lumia attire.
Ariel was with violet, also dressed in his usual lumia outfit while Aiden was traveling with Azura, giving her a chance to look around at things.

Nayjo glanced at him and smiled "Leon the Librarian....i like it" she laughed before moving off to hug Violet who was the closest to where they were standing
Violet laughed happily and hugged Nayjo. She had not seen Nayjo since before the three year war that had ended just a couple months before, the war that had taken the life of the king. "I missed you so much" she said holding her niece happily "I missed you too" Nayjo smiled Violet turned her eyes to Leon "Hello Leon. How are you?" she asked with a friendly smile

"I am doing good. How about you?" Leon asked, bowing his head in greeting to Violet.
Sandra came out with Jade at that point and moved over to hug her parents. "Hey." She said in greeting, the formalities gone at the moment. "Where is Aiden?"
"Him and Azura are back a short distance. This is Azura's first time traveling so he wanted to give her a chance to look around." Ariel told her.

"Pregnant" Violet said happily "What?" Nayjo looked at her aunt in shock "You....You're....." she looked at her mother "Mom! Violet's pregnant!" she called out figuring her mother hadn't known since she hadn't
Jade smiled and moved over to shake Ariel's hand "Congratulations" he said smiling before moving over to greet Treva
