"Since before the war" Kaida said pulling him to his feet, smelling the blood "But you were gone during the war. That time does not count" she sat him down "Take off your shirt. Let me see" she said, changing the subject without blinking.
Azura smiled slightly "We already had my thing with my family" she said softly "This is for your family, as much as me" Azura looked around "But if you want to learn I'd love to teach you one of our dances"

"I will be fine." Kenneth told her. "It is nothing you need to worry about." He flinched slightly when she pulled him back down to sit. "I just overdid myself with the trip here. It will heal." He did not want to burden her with the issues he had been dealing with at home.
"That may be the case." Aiden said as he lifted her chin. "But here it is still important and I want your experience with it to be the best it can be." He smiled softly. "And you know that I am happy as long as you are."

"I can smell the blood" Kaida said blankly, looking at him "Show me"
"That's not fair" Azura laughed "Your happiness can't completely depend on mine" she said looking at him "And I know it doesn't" she pointed out, thinking back to some of the fights they had before they were officially dating "You can be a little selfish sometimes. I don't mind"

Aiden laughed softly before he kissed her forehead before he moved on so that they could finish out some of the plans for the wedding.
Kenneth sighed softly as his mood became somber. He moved his hand and lifted his shirt where she could see the raw fresh skin covering his body, the result of the thugs sent after him. "The reason tradition makes me sick." He responded softly. "My mother was the only one lucky to escape it's wrath. Because of those that care more about tradition then if someone loves their significant other and doesn't care about power, wealth, or title."

"can't judge all traditions based on one bad one" she said simply she moved over to one plant and used her fairy magic to cause it to bud and bloom. Picking the flowers she walked back to him and pulled the petals back, extracting the nectar and pouring it onto the injury "and you're definitely not convincing me that I would like it better in Lumia"

Kenneth pulled away after she put the salve on and slipped his shirt back on. "Thank you, but perhaps I should go." He stated, having caught Ariel's scent. He slipped out of the room easily and headed in the opposite direction as what Ariel and Violet were, not wanting to explain the blood to him as well. In truth, the wound of what had caused the injuries was still to raw, having not had time to really heal.
Ariel caught Kenneth's scent briefly and raised a brow as he glanced towards the garden. "Violet...will you excuse me a moment?" He asked her.

Kaida rolled her eyes and flew back into the tree
Violet sniffed the air and nodded "Go" she said softly. She looked down at Briar then back at Ariel. Once he left she continued walking, wanting to see the flowers that were starting to come up in the courtyard

Ariel moved into the garden where Kaida was, having followed the scent to that area. He frowned slightly when he could find Kenneth. "Kaida...is everything okay with Kenneth?" He asked, looking her direction. Ariel was one of the few that had absolutely no issue and was not startled by Kaida's appearance, mostly because of Lumia being home to different styles of dress, including women wearing pants when they trained.

Kaida shrugged "He's bleeding." she answered simply, answering Ariel's question simply because he was one of the one that always treated her better. Also because she thought Kenneth should get his injury properly tended to and he had not told her not to tell anyone

Ariel frowned. "Thank you." He said and bowed to her. "I'll try to track him down. Care to help me out? He may listen to you more then me at this point. He has always been....stubborn, to put it bluntly, when he was injured." He frowned. After her answer, Ariel took off after Kenneth, tracking down his scent to the outdoor garden where he sat silently on one of the stone benches further back in the deeper part. "Kenneth...what has gotten into you?"
"Ariel." Kenneth said in greeting, not using his usual flamboyant tone.
"Why are you really here Kenneth?" Ariel asked. "And don't give me the story to see me, Violet, or Briar." He stated.
"Leave it alone, Ariel." Kenneth said, looking towards him. "My burdens are not yours to deal with. You have your own family to take care of."
"And you are my best friend, Kenneth." Ariel responded. "You are just as important to me, and you know that." Ariel moved over and sat down next to him. "What is going on?"

Kaida shrugged and moved down from the tree following after Ariel. She leaned against the wall, arms crossed as Ariel talked to Kenneth, not really saying anything "Tradition" Kaida said simply, telling Ariel. She didn't really care if Kenneth got upset at her for saying it, she would just say she was doing what she wanted, just as he told her to

Kenneth laughed a bit darkly when Kaida said Tradition.
As soon as Kaida said that Ariel frowned. "Kenneth...does this have to do with Silvia's family?" He asked.
Kenneth nodded once. "My grandmother agreed to it when they found out Silvia's mother was pregnant." He responded. "As a child I never thought anything of it. Me and Silvia were close for a time."
"I remember." Ariel stated. "But the law about contracted arranged marriages was done way with nearly seventy years ago." He looked towards Kaida, then back at Kenneth.
"And you remember the stories about how well that went over." He stated. "While Lumia has always been one for accepting change more then most kingdoms...you know backstabbing was something that even the previous king, before Andros, did not stop."
"Andros was the one that cut that. My predecessor was the one who helped him put it in place. I came into that position after he was killed for it." Ariel stated. "But what does that have to do with you being here."
"I backed out of the traditional contract." Kenneth stated, looking towards Ariel. "The thugs that came after me.....were hired by Silvia's family."
"Your status outranks them but they hold money." Ariel shook his head. "And your grandmother was always adamant about the match despite your insistence that you would only marry someone you loved."
"Not to mention she was an incessant flirt, a heart breaker, and cared only about herself. Plus...by the time they came to try and make me follow through my heart was already focused on someone else." He glanced towards Kaida briefly then down at his hands. "No surprise they didn't like my choice, especially after my father returned so they decided to make me an example. Wether they meant to kill me or not, I don't know. Most likely hoping to scare me into agreeing. But you know me....Once I set my mind towards something.."
"It would take killing you to change it." Ariel said with a soft laugh. "Which is why the woman that does marry you will never have to worry about you turning away from them." He said said softly. "Is Sandra dealing with it?"
Kenneth nodded once. "They kept me at the castle until it was okay enough for me to travel. Then she suggested I come here where she knew I would be okay and be among friends until things could be handled. Of course the fact that I was going to see you and your family....and especially Kaida...I jumped at it. Though I fear I pushed myself to get here a bit to much and the injuries I did receive were not fully healed as we thought."
Ariel smacked him in the back of the head. "Idiot." He shook his head slightly. "Infirmary and get it taken care of." He said. "I should let my father-in-law know why you are here." He stated, pushing himself up. "Do they know where you went?"
"No. I left for the direction of Rawhal first then slipped around to head here. Met up with Leon's group so they got the boarder secure." He told him. "We covered all basis to ensure that no one here would have to worry." Kenneth assured him. "Sandra sent a letter on ahead to let her father know that I was coming and why." He stated. "She said that things needed to stay quiet though so there was not a lot of build up about me being here."
"Alright." He stated. "I'll go speak with him. Let Kaida or someone help you up to the infirmary though."
Kenneth smirked slightly, still rubbing the back of his head. "You don't want to escort me yourself? Come now dear Ariel..."
"And again...idiot." Ariel said with a soft laugh. "Kaida...can you make sure he makes it to the infirmary?" He asked her.

"I suppose" Kaida didn;t particularly like going that far into the castle because of the people but she figured she could do it
Violet came around at about that time "I'll walk with you two. The doctor wanted to speak with me yet I think" she shifted her arms getting a little tired "Kaida..."
Kaida moved over and took the baby from her simply, letting Violet readjust so she was more comfortable. Kaida looked down at Briar and a small smile crossed her face as she did then disappeared as she handed the baby back to her mother

Briar cooed as soon as Kaida took her, reaching her small hand up to touch her face, but was handed off before she could do so.
"Thank you." Ariel said. He kissed Violet's cheek gently before moving to find Torrent. "Sir." He said upon being allowed in the room. "Kenneth just informed me of his real reason for being here. Did you receive a letter from Sandra with that news?"

Torrent looked up at Ariel and smiled wryly "I did" he said, getting to his feet "It arrived this morning, before Kenneth did." he looked at his son-in-law "How is he doing? I heard his cheerful voice easier so i figured he was doing better"
Kaida and Violet walked to the infirmary with Kenneth. Before they got there Violet stopped and turned to look at a noble passing by "I beg your pardon?" she said to him, even though he had not spoken "You have some nerve giving her a judgmental look and then following it with such lecherous thoughts" she said angrily "Kaida is a Royal guest in this castle and she in entitled to dress in the way of her people" The noble muttered an apology, ducking his head and moving off.
