Kaien still in a daze shook his head as he got in his stance as well. ~what did I do wrong?~ he kept thinking as he closed his eyes and focused a little of his cosmo so he was relaxed but ready to fight. He then ran at her doing a straight forward punch but she could easilly tell his speed and focus really did go up.

Kaien's hand suddenly hit an an invisible barrier as Chloe held up her palm. Even though he didn't hit her directly a small cut appeared on her face and she said, "Your teacher wasn't kidding. Just from that first punch I could feel the difference. But now it's my turn." She smiled and her Cosmo suddenly flared full blast with enough power to cause a full grown man to go sliding back. Running toward Kaien she swung a punch at his face.

Kaien gasped and took the full brunt of it to his face as he went flyling. As he winced he used his hands to flip himself and jump up onto a pillar as he landed and rubbed his cheak. he whiped away some blood as he groaned. "ouch..." he said. "Talk about power upgrade." he added as he looked at her. "I'm going to have to really go at her like she said." he said to himself as he flared up his and went at her again but this time attacking her rappidly making it hard for her to go on the offensive.

Chloe just stepped back avoiding his hits till she got bored with that caught his fists and flared her Cosmo even higher sending him flying into a pillar with a crash. Sidney and Sterling had felt both them fighting and decided to come watch.

But they were a little to close because for some reason Sterling's glasses lens shattered and he fell off his seat with a yelp. "Brother!" Cried Sidney as he saw that. Chloe saw it too but didn't think she let off that much power. Running over she said, "What happened? Is he alright?"

"No he's fainted you really need to control that power better Chloe." Said Sidney as he held his unconscious brother. "There's no way I could have caused that Sidney." Hearing a thud that moment Chloe turned around and ran that way going around the corner. She saw a specter hit the ground as a woman slammed her foot into him. Chloe said, "How I didn't even sense him?"

"It's quite obvious this one was a master at killing off his entire Cosmo. Is the boy alright?" Asked the woman. "Sterling! Sterling!" Sidney was heard crying loudly and Chloe ran over. "He's turning blue what the hell do I do!" Cried Sidney. "He's not breathing lay him down." Said Chloe. Sidney quickly did that and taking a closer look Chloe saw an acupuncture needle in the boys neck. She realized it was cutting off his breathing.

She jerked it out Sterling let out a loud gasp and started coughing and rasping. Chloe held him in her arms helping him sit up slowly as he was gasping for air and coughing up blood.

Kaien slowly got up as he winced. "ow, ow, ow, ow." he said as he roated his neck, arm and shoulder a few times. "yeah... that was fair." he said as he got up seeing what was going on. He got up and ran to the others. "hey... you guys okay?" he said looking at Sterling as he closed his eyes for a brief moment then opened them as Sterling could feel stronger again... strong enough to fight off the gasping and stand.

Kaien then looked to the woman as he narrowed his eyes at the spector then at her. "and you are?" he asked feeling something was off... very off.

The woman smiled and said, "You can call me Terra. My cloth is Lyra." She went over to Sterling and said in a gentle voice, "Hold still." Pressing her hand gently to his throat he managed to concentrate her Cosmo into it and heal his wound. Sterling was finally able to catch his breath. "Wow it's easy to see you've really mastered your Cosmo." Said Sidney relieved to see his brother breathing normally. "He might not be able to speak for a while but at he went suffocate any further." Said Terra as Sterling finally slumped into his brother's arms fainting.

Kaien just watched as he narrowed his eyes a little bit not understanding the whole situation but his look... his demenor... everything about him, even his body language showed that he didn't feel right about this... this Terra. He didn't know if it was the spectors around the sanctuary or something else entirely.

Come on let's get him to bed. We might need to have a doctor look at him just to be safe." Said Chloe as she lifted up Sterling onto her back and walked off. Sidney followed after her. Terra saw the specter trying to crawl away. She slammed her foot down into his head again a few more times stopping him.

[Lao]

Kaien looked back as he watched. "I don't know if I should feel sorry for him due to the fact he was unlucky enough to cross you. Or just because he foolishly came to the sactuary." Kaien said as he walked off also... he then saw the house of cancer light up as he widened his eyes. "Oh no... it couldn't be." he said as he ran off quickly. "master... master manigoldo." he thought to himself.

Chloe came running down the steps half way after Kaien and she grabbed him stopping him. Looking at him sadly she just shook her head and said, "Kaien.... I'm sorry... but it seems he's gone... I felt it.... I felt it deep down some how."

Kaien looked at her and shook his head as he pulled his hand away. "I have to see it with my own eyes Chloe. I'm sorry but... I have to know my own way." he confessed as he ran all the way up and into the temple. There he saw Manigoldo standing there smiling.


"I knew you'd come running... its always like you." he said. "sorry my friend but I'm here only to say goodbye. I'm sure you'll take my place someday. Make me proud." he said as he patted his shoulder as he walked off. "see ya around." he said as he waved and his armor took its cancer form and was inside the temple once more... waiting for a new saint to don it.


"Master Manigoldo." he said as he lowered his head as an only tear fell on the temple. "Is this... all there is to our life?" he questioned as he fell to his knees.

Chloe didn't bother chasing after Kaien. Deep down she knew he needed to see it for himself. Walking back to check on the twins she saw the doctor leaving and Sidney sitting by his brother's side.. "How is he?" Asked Chloe softly. "There's a slim chance he'll be able to ever talk again.... He's probably going to be mute for the rest of his life. Chloe.... I can't go on like this... I don't think I can fight anymore. I feel so useless. I been training for weeks and I haven't even mastered the 7th sense yet. Am I really a saint at this rate? I feel so weak." Said Sidney as tears ran down his face. "Sidney listen to me. Things may be hard but you can't give up. So many people depend on us. You're strong in your own way. You just have to find it." Said Chloe hugging Sidney gently. She pulled away and said, "Try not to pester Kaien too much. His master just passed away it seems and he's probably going to be depressed for a while." Sidney nodded and looked back to his brother.

What seems like days was only hours as the sun had finally set as Kaien was watching his master's gold armor as he narrowed his eyes. "Are we making a difference? Is this cycle of death just something inescapable? why go on living?" he asked himself as he looked at his reflection. "you know the answer... life has meaning... death does not." he said as he stood up. "and I'll keep fighting." he said as he remembered his past... how one boy defeated more then 7 spectors as his home town was destroyed and Manigoldo found him.

Three days later had passed since then. Sterling was back on his feet unable to talk barely but was well enough to train. He and Sidney were currently sparring with each other while Chloe watched. She hadn't seen much of Kaien the past few days and decided to leave him alone.

Overseeing the boys as they sparred with each other. She sighed as Sidney slugged across his face by his brother. "This is more like a street fight you two. Use some skills." Chloe called out to them. Terra came walking up that moment and said, "How about you two against me?" Both boys stopped and looked at each other before nodding.

Chloe had a feeling this was going to end badly and she flinched watching as both boys got knocked down with one hit by Terra. "Ow! Hey watch it grandma! Easy on the hitting!" Said Sidney glaring up at Terra as he stood up. "What the hell did you just call me kid!" Said Terra as she knocked him down and stepped on his back.

Chloe came running over and jerked Terra off Sidney. She then stood in front of the boys and said, "Terra right? I was informed a lot about you? You're a tad bit violent I see. That's no way to train someone stomping on them like they're an insect." "You think the specters will be any easier. You saw what happened three days ago." Said Terra. "I won't have you beating on them. That's an order not a suggestion." Said Chloe firmly.

"I don't have to listen to you just because you're a damn gold saint Honestly just because you wear that armor you think you're all that when you're really nothing but a show off and weakling." Said Terra. Chloe twitched in anger and both Sidney and Sterling back away fast seeing things were about to get really ugly. A crack was heard when Chloe slapped Terra. After that a full blown fight had broken out between the two.

Kaien saw the fight break out as he watched for a few breif moment then as if out of no where he jumped and slammed between both of them causing both to be blocked as Kaien looked at both of them. "enough." he said as calmly as he could... what he did was he used his foot to Chloe's hand so it hit the ground... and he used his elbow, shoulder and back to deflect Terra's strike.

"We are here to train not kill each other... Terra its no good if our soldiers are in the infermary when the spectors attack... I agree with your words not with you methods." he said. "Chloe... Your so calm... you never get set off this easilly. Control yourself... my dear." he said as he helped her up.
