Staring at the woman annoyed Akumu spat on the ground and then glared at her, calling her a lackey was an insult and a human insulting her was not going to be tolerated. She actually spoke up and grinned like she was really not happy, and probably holding back the impulse to tear her apart. "To compare me to some common follower is more of an insult than to say I am unobservant you insect, the oni here would attack from behind but you would do the same. Next time you open your mouth, consider whom you speak to human." She then closed her eyes and went quiet, obviously she had raised her ire for a split second then crashed right down even though she gave more than she intended away. She did not reach for her weapons, nor did she make any move besides poosture and show her anger.
The woman had her curiosity, if not for her impertinence in addressing one like her as if she were a human follower of Rayne or some oni following him for siilar reasons, however now this would raise questions as the tone had even been of superiority. She'd just acted the oni she hated and was not not even looking Rayne in the eyes as he looked down at the ground and kicked a rock.

Rayne just looked at her stunned and seconds after that he looked back to where the woman had been standing and saw she was behind them her gun pressed to not his back but her head instead.
"I take back the lacky comment. Is this your summon or not? You don't appear to be the type that relies on an Oni's help. I should just kill you here now. They say the Oni who look most human are the deadliest." Her gun was suddenly smacked away and Rayne said, "Put that thing away! Just who the hell are you! Human or not I owe her for backing me up!"
"I see so she is your ally. So sorry." Said the woman with a bit of sarcasm. She then put her rifle away and said, "You can call me Mai by the way and you two are?" Rayne frowned and said, "Girls like you annoy me. But my name is Rayne."

Akumu looked at Mai without contempt as she adjusted her equipment, she was acting on her own volition and perhaps nothing had really made her think of this outcome. She was not summoned as she had been around them all along, nobody had noticed the signs nd she assumed they were all oblivious. "Akumu and humans make far better company than other oni, their more amusing to watch and interact with. I've been amongst you all along, since I woke up and found you had gathered for survival." She stated plainly and and without deceit, though she had become one of that home's top hunters she had worked hard to keep her secret. Now two knew and if they could keep it quiet she would not say anything more.
"Silence is best for now, should the others realize this it would cause panic." She advised as she seemd to be more concerned with their safety than her own at this point, she was clearly not an enemy and obviously a free willed oni who had chosen her own path.

"No need to worry Oni are so common these days I doubt anyone would panic if they found out Akumu." Said Rayne. "So she isn't yours? It's not common for an Oni to just latch onto someone though. I suppose each race has their own oddballs though." Said Mai.
"Yeah well anyways I got a job to do. We need to get going before night fall." Said Rayne. "What work you doing. I may as well come with." Spoke Mai. "A letter delivery and sure if you want to. But aren't you out of bullets?" Said Rayne.
"Yeah but don't count me out. I double as a ranged and an in your face fighter as I like to call myself." Said Mai as they started walking. Rayne started laughing as he said, "That's a good one."

She nodded and then checked her weapons again, she had no idea why an Oni would attach to a human. She just did as she wanted and this was good enough for now. If he got boring chances are she would wander off, but he did not seem boring and Rayne did not either. So she would bear with this, see what exactly would entail. "Am I the only like me, I saw no others who look like me... I wonder about that..." She had some idea that she was probably not too common, but if she was the odd one out then maybe the others did not even look close to her.
She decided not to object as she had no plans on doing anything except her job, killing other Oni was fun but if she coyuld use her power on them then the fun would begin. Akumu meant nightmare for a reason.
