In a futuristic world where there was a nuclear war. The fallout hit the world like a plague. Everything was radiated. Everything was undrinkable without. Thanks to medical sciences they kept radiation from killing everyone. Oni as they were called started running free and humans were forced to take things in their own hands.
The world was now no more then a desolate place in ruins. People resided in mini residential areas that they would call home. In this little areas various things would be sold and jobs would be given out to people to make some form of survival.
Out in the landscape of the deserted city Rayne was currently taking out some Oni. He had been heading back to the home base when the Oni came out of nowhere and started attacking him quite viciously. Finding himself struck Rayne skidded back on his feet as he was given a violent hit. "Damn things..." Said Rayne as he shot several more out but for every one he killed three more would appear.
His gun started clicking suddenly when he tried shooting it off again. Checking himself he felt like a fool. He had no more bullets and now he was going to be either injured badly or killed thanks to forgetting to buy more. Stepping back Rayne had no choice but to turn and run as fast as he could with the Oni on his tail. He knew if he made it back they wouldn't be able to follow him into home base thanks to the security.

Akumu was probably the last person who'd be sent out to support anyone, usually worked alone because she often had troubbles working with another her skills were unique. Nobody knew much about her except that she was different, if she spoke it was never needlessly and she hardly spoke amongst those she did not know. Her eyes were like pools of blood and her very demeanor belied the fact she could kill efficiently, as well as without really showing much response. Rushing into the fray as she pulled the rather nsty looking spear off her back, Akumu plunged it through one oni amd then planted a foot on the body and kicked it off. "Tch! I know I'm a little late, but hurry up!" Was all she saidas she slamemd the back end of her spear into the legs of one Oni and knocked it down, as two came up on either flank. She was focused on fighting more often to distract herself from her issues, and if anybody tried to talk to her she would gaze at them or skitter away depending on who they were. Only the leader of the group and a fe othersshe would speak to. In fact rayne was lucky to get words since she had only seen him around before. But she spoke in a chastising tone, like she had some disdain for guns and it was evident.

Rayne ran past her without hesitation not even stopping it was then he checked his front pocket remembering off hand that's where his bullets were. Skidding to a stop fast he felt stupid he had forget to check there. Seeing as he liked to keep them there to get to them quickly. Loading up his gun he quickly ran back and shot down them getting them off her.
After that he practically dragged her inside and the metal doors closed behind them with a boom. Letting go of her hand he wiped the sweat off his forehead and said, "I figured I owed you one. There had to be at last thirty of them damn things. That's why I dragged you back in here. No one in their right mind would take on that many. Man that was close." Rayne then sat down to catch his breath.

She took our a few on he own before she was dragged back in, but that was not a good thing as when they shut she macked against the wall opposite to him and stared at him. The look was not annoyed but it was not gratitude, it was hard to define since she did this often to people. However she nodded her head and then put the spear on her back, this was going to be interesting as he'd somehow caught her attention if she spoke to him initially. However she was going to let him take the lead, as the silver ornaments hanging from her high collar jangled shen she looked around to see others staring and blushed as she hid her face.
"Don't stare I don't like it..." She mumbled through her hands and then ducked to the other side so Rayne blocked their view but she was not too close to him. He was going to be her shield until this was over, this was nothing like she wanted to handle but it happened often. She knew her own truth but everybody knew nothing, they just assumed that she was a survivor and yet always considered her to be te bases number one mystery.

Rayne just stood up and looked at her oddly for a moment before saying, "Uh thanks I guess. Well I'm off now." He then headed up the steps onto the main floor of the home base. Wandering around the next hour or so taking care of some things. He sure hell didn't like how the fact just getting some clean filtered water was pricey. As he left that shop grumbling about stupid prices. But he continued on and went to get some bullets for his gun before he really did run out. He couldn't shake off the feeling he was being either followed or watched as he went about his business.

From a distance she kept him in sight, often sliding out of view the moment he looked around or keeping out of even the corner of his eye. She'd never followed anyone before so this only made the situation weirder, Akumu ment nightmare and some people figured she would live up to her name one day and draw something terrible upon them. However she was content for now to follow and watch, trying to figure Rayne out like he was some kind of myustery. A loner like her and someone who seemed like he did not have many friends, maybe she could understand him and he ould understand her. The truth and her reality were never easy to accept, even for her as she could not understand why she was even here. She should be out there living a life that was different, instead she'd chosen the survivors and to fight for them.
After a while she decided to get some wate herself and sitting down on a bench nearby she was now in plain sight and staring at he bottle, as if usure to drink it or to stare at it and get something else to drink that was not so pure. She'd been known on missions to actually drink the water outside and she seemed to be fine for the most part except for some nausea that quickly passed. Everything she did was for her own motives, and stalking Rayne she could explain if she was willing to.

Rayne came out of another shop and saw her. It was as he expected he knew he was being followed by her. Going over he set a package of nuts by her. "They are powdered nuts but better then no food at all." Said Rayne opening his own package and eating them down. He took a drink of his water and just stared at the rafters above their head.
"After this I'm going to find some more work. So if you plan on still following me watch your back because I'm going back out there." Said Rayne finishing off his nuts. He threw the wrapper away and slipped his water into the pack he carried with him.

Finally taking a drink she looked at the nuts and picked them up, she ate quickly but kept her gaze averted now. He didn't take exception to this which many would, this worried her that he might actually one day figure her out and that scared her a bit but she knew one day someone would. "Your not mad? I'm always careful..." She spoke inquisitively in reference to her following him, most people would eget annoyed if someone followed them. So this was easily a surprise to her since knew this was wrong but still did it, however she knew going out was dangerous and she would fight when she did. She just had to keep him away from certain places, places that she had been to and seen what they contained.
After she was done she tossed the package away and drained half the water, guns were useful but in the end they were limited since they needed ammunition. Still gunners had the advantage of range, where she did not and had to get up close. Nodding at the part about being careful she placed her water away, clean water tasted better than dirty water.

"I'm not easily irritated. I mean you can come up and tell me I look funny my hair is weird whatever and I'd just laugh and say thanks." Said Rayne as he grabbed his back pack.
After that it didn't take him long to find a job. It was a letter delivery to the next home base at the end of the once great city now that lay in. Getting there would be tough but Rayne knew he could handle it.
Making sure his gun was loaded he headed on out of the base. The Oni that were chasing him before were long gone thankfully. Rayne looked at the map before he started walking down the path he needed to go down.

He was a weird one, maybe not as weird as her but he had his oddities and his laid back nature seemed to fit him. The question was why he was such a loner then, he was good but he seemed like at times he could use help. Getting up and following him she pondered in her head these reasons, maybe something caused him to work alone. However a simple delivery through the ruins of a city was never simple, there was always problems and enemies that could come up. "You are who you are..." Was all she replied with as she followed him out of the gates, to see the two of them leave at the same time must have been a sight.
Once they were out she closed her eyes and then sighed, she preferred the extermination ones that called for an area to be cleared. However she knew that he obviously had a good idea what he was doing, though it had been amongst these ruins she had woken up and wandered around before finding this place. What had this place been like before this hell, why were humans so pathetic and self destructive. She'd never understood them but she saw them as a curiosity, when others saw them as a threat and the enemy.

As Rayne was walking he'd occasionally look around for anything that might be coming at them. Glancing back he just looked and saw her following. He wasn't paying attention and suddenly fell into a ditch with a startled yelp. "Ow F*** man." Said Rayne as he sat there wincing. He looked up at her and said, "I'm alright just gimme a sec to get out of this hole. The ground suddenly started shaking under Rayne and he scrambled out of the ditch fast as a worm like demon shot out of right where he had been moments before. "Shit..." Said Rayne drawing his gun and firing off shots at it.

She stopped short after he fell in, and when she looked inside it and saw the demon attack she pulled out her spear. Waiting as if looking for an opening she thrust it into the ditch catching the oni on the second pass, slicing the outer skin and making a deep gash in it. Flipping the spear into a forwrd thrust position she prepared to counter attack in case it attacked her, after all she had used her attack to draw it's attention and allow Rayne to get out and into a better position. Watching it she side stepped as it attacked where she was, and smacked it with the butt end of her spear so it was sent reeling backewards.
Silently she remained in her position, preparing for another attack or possible counter. Her sword remained undrawn but she was intent on keeping it's focus as she stared it down, moving her mouth as if she was saying something to it that was unable to be made out.

The Oni just froze that moment and seem to slither back down into its hole despite being attacked. It was gone and Rayne said, "Um now would be a good time to get out of here." He hurried off pulling her along gently.
Once they were out of range he tended to his few cuts he had gotten from the fall and they then continued on their way after he was finished.

Fear was the motivator that could turn the tide, but she was trying to get information and instead it ran away. Perhaps it was better that way as such simple minded oni were not reliable, being pulled away she was light enough it was like pulling away a doll or rather light person, once away and on the path again she scowled at not being able to finish the fight. "Not every Oni are such cowards, and must you pull me like I am so fragile..." She spoke annoyed, the first time something other than her curious look had crossed except for the fight.
She walked after him and kicked the ground, something so weak she could not help but feel bad about thinking of killing it. Rayne had merely disturbed it, but she had said something to make it run. Did he realize just what she was, that she could handle herself alone out here because she could do more than fight.

Rayne let go of her quickly and just stared off ahead as he continued walking. He didn't know what else to say and just focused on the given mission. Perking up when he heard gun shots out in the distance. He walked that way out of curiosity. Seeing a blond hair girl exterminating Oni with a rifle. She locked onto another and shot it down with ease.
Rayne just stood there and watched as she reached for some bullets only to find she had no more. So drawing a Kodachi type blade she ran forward and slashed through the rest of the Oni with ease. Sheathing her blade she turned and just looked at Rayne. "You staring for a reason. if you have business with me spit it out already I'm busy here." Said the blond female annoyed.
"No business sorry I'll just be on my way." Said Rayne shaking his head. "You got a lacky behind you. Maybe you should keep your eye on her. The Oni around here are the kind that come up from behind." Said the woman.
