"The usual." Vane said with a shrug. "Told the teacher you had alot on your mind and was busy trying to get things sorted out. Made sure no one else heard so you won't be in trouble for not showing up." He tossed her a book with some papers in it. "Did most of it. Still got a couple of things that you need to take care of as they are personal opinion questions. My way of appologizing for some of the crud that has arisen between the two of us."
After a moment he reached up and pulled out one of his ear buds. "And I am sorry about what happened between me and my twin earlier. I was not intending for you to see that. He isn't even supposed to be here."

Lilah glanced over at him and made a face "The crud between us?" she asked, ignoring his apology about earlier "I thought all that was because I'm a conniving self-centered witch"
She grabbed his shirt suddenly and moved him over, standing close to him and glancing over his shoulder carefully as the principal came out and scanned the field, looking for her.
She was going to put this off as long as she possibly could |

'Vane shrugged slightly. When she pulled him out of the way he glanced towards the principal. "Why don't you just stay with me and my family?" He asked. "My dad can take care of the legal work. You can come and go as you please, but it gives you a place to at least sleep that will be steady." He was simply offering, but figured she wouldn't accept.

Lilah made a face but then paused, looking like she actually considered it. She was used to a certain standard of living, and though Vane's house wasn't quite as spectacular it was better then anything she'd get in foster care Suddenly the girls on the field stopped practicing and began to mutter among themselves  The strange man approached, whispers coming from all the girls as he walked by, giggling when he glanced their way. A small meek woman followed behind him "Hello Lilah" He said, his voice smooth as silk, he dismissed Vane totally Lilah looked at him unaffected by his looks "Can I help you?" She asked with her hand on her hip, announced by the commotion he was causing. She didn't even seem to noticed how close she was to Vane still The man looked amused, like she was , missing some joke and his eyes gleamed "My name is Mars. Mars Aresse. I'm your birth father" |

Vane felt his body grow tense when Mars approached. He clenched his fists a bit before glancing away. "I should have known." He muttered. Vane took a deep breath and let it out slowly, ice crystals forming becaus of it. It was always something thay happened when he was extreamly tense or nervous about something.

Lilah didn't move. It was she had also frozen, staring at the man. Finally she managed to collect herself and let go of Vane
"excuse me?" she demanded, angrily "what the hell is this?"
Mars smirked slightly "I've come to take you home with me. Your adoptive par-"
"Stop" Lilah cut him off "I was not adopted, you sick freak. Get out of my face"
"Ummm" the woman behind Mars stepped forward "actually, you were. We brought the paperwork in case you didn't believe"
Lilah didn't even glance at the paper "And what are you supposed to be? My mother?" she asked coldly
"She's my assistant." Mars said simply
"no way" she said crossing her arms "No way in hell I'm going with you" |

"It isn't all that bad being a demi-god. And you should be happy that your father wants you to live with him. You are lucky." He glanced towards Mars. "I should let you and my father know. Chance escaped his prison and arrived here two days ago." Vane told him before shifting hisbag and glancing towards Lilah. "Good luck." He bowed his head to Mars before turning to go home.

"Vane!" Lilah watched him leaved stunned that he would leave her alone with this stranger. She gritted her teeth and looked back at the man, starting to realize she might not have a choice "You don't need him." Mars said, putting his hand on her shoulder The next two days there was no sign of Lilah. On the third day a new girl walked through the school. She was dress darkly and was listening to music. Because of her clothes most guys dismissed her at first, then did a double take, noticing her pretty face By lunch she was the talk of the school. The guys went on and on about how the new girl was almost as hot as Lilah. The girls not in Lilah’s posse though, that hated Lilah for not only being prettier but using it on all the guys, said that she was way prettier then Lilah was. Either way she was considered pretty enough to compare. When chemistry rolled around she walked into the class and everyone looked at her The teacher looked around the room “Lilah’s absent again so why don’t you sit with Vane; he can be your lab partner for now” The girl nodded and walked over, taking Lilah’s chair and leaning back casually, her ear buds out but hanging around her neck She glanced over at Vane, hearing his music playing and smirked “Is that Megadeath?” she asked, recognizing the music  |

Vane glanced back before heading home. At school the next few days, he was quiet and not as outgoing as he had been with Lilah around.
On that particular day, he was simply staring off in space as he listened to his music. When the new girl spoke to him, he reached up and pulled both ear buds out. "Yeah." He said in response to her question. "Antonio Vane." He introduced himself. "But I go by Vane."

"Evangeline. Bit I go by Ava" she smiled in response "I hope it's not a problem. Me replacing your usual partner for a bit i mean." she leaned back lazily.her text book open on the desk "What's with people in this school. Their either jocks, preps or nerds." she looked at the teacher when he started to speak and flipped to the lesson in her text book. She had already finished right all the answers to the test questions for that page, and for most of the pages |

"It's fine. Doubt she will be coming back anytime soon." Vane muttered. He noticed what she had done and smirked. "Guess I am not the only one who likes to get ahead." He glanced towards his own book which had most of the questions for the next little bit answered. He leaned back in his seat again and rubbed his neck, the area near him getting cold and then returning o normal.

Ava looked at him for a moment
"Is she your girlfriend?" she asked, noticing how he muttered it
Teacher directed a question her way and she answered easily and correctly.
"Sorry" she said after "Being nosy, I can leave you alone" she picked up one of her ear buds and placed it in her ear |

"Not hardly." Vane said with a soft chuckle. "I think she actually hated me but...we still talked." Vane shrugged. "I guess you could call us acquaintances." Vane looked towards Ava then up at the teacher.

Ava smirked "Weird girl." she said simply "If i hate someone i wouldn't give them two minute of my time. Unless I was beating them up" she chuckled herself looking towards the teacher and glancing at him out of the corner of her eye |

"Ain't exactly normal myself." He told her before pushing himself up thanks to class being at an end. "Nice meeting you, Ava." He grabbed his bag and slipped one of his ear buds in and headed for the door and towards gym. He had finally chosen to join the swim team the day before and during gym had practice.
