A scream pierced through the cool night air
"Murder! Murder!" The shrill voice of a frantic woman cried would. One by one the houses in the small village lit up with candle light and people wandered out into the street.
By the time the knight got there from the outpost there was a crowded. Then forced their way through, knocking stubborn villagers aside until they reached their goal
The hysterical woman was on her knees, sobbing. She was young, no more than twenty three. She was covered in blood, and a lot of it. Looking at the body next to her they assumed it was probably his. On closer examination they found the cause of the man's death.
A jagged gash had been cut across his neck. It was not the cut of any knife they had see, the edges were too jagged, too torn. It was as if an animal had torn it open with its teeth.
The knights ceased the woman and questioned her as a physician examined her for any injuries.
The woman wailed out a story of monsters that looked like people and the villagers began to stir fearfully.
Suddenly the physician let out a cry, startling everyone, even the knights.
The blood on the woman was not the man's but her own. In her neck, along the vein there, were two small punctures that were slowly bleeding out.
When everyone managed to regain themselves they made a quick attempt to stifle the blood flow. The woman looked into the eyes of one of the knights, totally calm now
"They're coming" she whispered, before collapsing in his arms. The physician rushed over and checked for a pulse.
The next morning a grave was dug, and the bodies of the man and woman were lowered into it, together.
A week passed, far too slowly for the villagers. The whole village was tense, fearful. Knights patrolled the street at night. Kids stayed indoors even during the day. The village was quiet
It was the last day of the week and people were finally beginning to relax a little when they were woken once again by a yell
"Witchcraft! Sorcery! Black magic!" The old grave keeper ran up to the first man out of his house, grabbing his shoulders "I'm telling you! The devil has come to take us all" he said shaking the man. The man was about to push the old grave keeper down when the grave keeper went tense and collapsed, dead on the spot.Later the physician would say his heart failed him.
The village exploded in a riot and the knights fought to calm them all. The knights were the first on the burial grounds and quickly decided they had to keep the villagers back.
From the distance they were held at the villagers began to mutter among themselves, looking over at the fresh grave that seemed to have been dug up
A young knight peered into the whole and stepped back quickly, tripping over his own feet. One of his seniors pulled him up, reprimanding him for his lack of self control. Then they began to talk among themselves, trying to choose a plan of action
A young boy took advantage of their distraction and slipped past them, peering into the whole
"Didn't we burry two people?" he asked aloud before the knight had noticed him.
The knights grabbed him, trying to quiet him but the damage was done. The village flew into a fit of panic.
As the rest of the knights fought to calm everyone the young knight glanced into the grave once more and bit his lip, fearfully.
The body of the woman was gone

She was beautiful. A Vision. As she walked gracefully up the castle steps in the dark of the evening.
A servant met her and guided her in, leading her before the king.
She walked into the room and bowed fluidly, and the servant stepped to the king, handing him a small item she had brought with her
"Valentine" he muttered looking at the seal in his hand, then back at the woman "This is the seal of the Valentine family, the rulers of my allies to the north" he explained to his son who sat by his side. "I was told they were all murdered. Assassinated." he said eyeing the woman
"All but one" She said, speaking for the first time since entering the great city. The woman rose to her feet, meeting the kings gaze "I am Princess Geveniveve Valentine" she said softly "I have come before you, my lord, seeking refuge. My family is killed and i am now without a home, hunted by the very people my family served"
The king shifted in his chair "Your family has always been good allies of mine, and your father, my friend" he paused "If you are who you say you are"
Genevieve, as she called herself, reached into the bag she carried and produced ab elegant silver crown and the king sucked in his breath
Standing the king turned to his servant "Prepare a room for Princess Genevieve."
Genevieve bowed to the king "Thank you for your kindness my lord"
"Of course" the kind said, sitting once more "You will be an honored guest." at the kings gesture a servant walked over to her and took the crown, bowing and placing it on her head
"Your status has not diminished, despite what happened, we will regain your kingdom for you"
She bowed her head, her hair falling and hiding the small smirk that came to her lips "Thank you...my lord"
